Tahmina Saleem
Tahmina has a track record of human rights activism, in 2009 she co-founded the acclaimed Inspire CIC, which empowered British Muslim women and countered hatred by disseminating counter narratives to extremist ideology. She has worked since her student days in various capacities to highlight the fact that there is much more that unites communities than that which divides them. She put her values to good use as the UK National Chair of Islam Awareness Week in 2006 and 2007 with the respective themes of One World (the Myth of the Clash) and Celebrating the Best of Britain. Following the EDL’s foray into Luton she worked with schools as part of Luton in Harmony to use arts to spread positive messages of unity. Tahmina currently brings her zeal for fairness to her role as Portfolio Holder for Children’s Services at Luton Borough Council.
